Procedures

Cervical and lumbar artificial disc replacement is a type of surgery that is performed to replace a damaged or diseased disc in the spine. This surgery is typically recommended for patients who have failed to respond to conservative treatment options, such as physical therapy and medication.

The goal of this surgery is to relieve pain and restore mobility by replacing the damaged disc with an artificial one. This surgery is typically performed using minimally invasive techniques, which means that it is performed through small incisions. This results in less pain and a shorter recovery time for the patient.

Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) is a surgery to remove a herniated or degenerative disc in the neck and fuse the vertebrae together. This procedure is performed through an incision in the front of the neck.

ACDF is indicated for patients who experience neck pain, arm pain, or neurological symptoms from a herniated or degenerative disc in the cervical spine. The goal of the surgery is to relieve pain and neurological symptoms by removing the disc and stabilizing the spine.

ACDF is typically performed under general anesthesia.

Lumbar microdiscectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that is used to treat herniated discs in the lower back. This procedure involves the removal of the herniated disc material that is pressing on the spinal nerve, which can alleviate pain and other symptoms.

Lumbar microdiscectomy is typically performed as an outpatient procedure, meaning that the patient can go home the same day. The surgery itself is relatively short, and patients can expect to experience some soreness and pain afterwards. However, this pain is typically manageable with over-the-counter or prescription medications. Recovery times vary depending on the individual, but most people can return to their normal activities within a few weeks.

Lumbar Laminectomy is a type of back surgery that is used to relieve pain in the lower back. The lamina is a thin layer of bone that covers the spinal cord. Lumbar Laminectomy is a procedure that removes the lamina from the vertebrae in order to access the spinal cord and nerves. This surgery is typically performed to relieve pain that is caused by compression of the spinal cord or nerves. Lumbar Laminectomy is typically performed as an outpatient procedure, meaning the patient does not need to stay in the hospital overnight. Recovery time from this surgery is typically 4-6 weeks.
